The 29th Round is somewhat different from the previous Rounds 21 to 28 where there was an ever increasing area available for evaluation and application. This is the first Round to be administered by the OGA and this time concentrates on a targeted area to focus effort and promote exploration activity on Frontier acreage and other areas nominated by the Industry.
Hannon Westwood’s 29th Round Screening Study Report is available now and includes details of prospects and discoveries that fall within open acreage in blocks offered in the Round. Written to be consistent with those areas designated as available for applications in the Round – which contain prospects and discoveries.
This Study gives a consolidated archive of technical detail on prospects and discoveries that have previously been identified or made on open acreage and will be of significance in determining where to make an application. It offers a first-pass screening to grade opportunities for further detailed work and enables explorers and business managers to focus efforts where most appropriate.
The Study provides the best view available of the ‘yet to find’ and undeveloped potential of acreage available for licensing, allowing companies to determine whether there is anything that meets their strategic requirements from a specific play or prospect which could be a focus for further evaluation. The intent is to highlight what has been identified previously and save companies time in a literature search prior to homing in on acreage of interest.
