Background and Challenge
Our client, a world leader in the supply of oil refinery technology, wished to explore the feasibility of developing a parallel business stream based on gas processing, an area in which it did not have a major presence.
Approach and Recommendations
In order to enable our client to determine the present and likely future technical challenges faced by the gas processing sector, we first researched the issues and then supplemented our findings with a series of face-to-face interviews with VPs of the largest natural gas producers worldwide. This included IOCs and NOCs. Now equipped with industry needs, to fast-track the business development process we recommended a buy-and-build strategy involving acquiring an existing leading player in gas processing.
Result
An appropriate company was identified and acquired and formed the basis of a successful new division of our client’s business as a single-source gas processing solutions provider.
